Touring Portugal The Land Rover Adventure Association of Ontario was started by several keen Land Rover owners in the Toronto area, with the shared enthusiasm of off-roading and adventure traveling. Various off-road outings are scheduled during the year, which range from very difficult to easy and sometimes a surprise! Typically the outings are twice a month usually a day trip or over night with the co-ordination of the club members. In addition, there are more organized events such as participating with other clubs, expeditions into Northern Ontario and the annual fall picnic.

The membership continues to grow and includes owners of just about every Land Rover model including; the Series I, II, III,101 Forward Control,Range Rover,Defender,Discovery Series I, II, LR3,the Freelander and the LR2.

Guy Fawkes Bonfire Party - October 31 & November 1

Each year Dominic and Scarlett from Land Rover Salvage host the OVLR Guy Fawkes Bonfire Party  in Madoc.

The event is staged, as a platform for good-natured appreciation of 4x4 vehicles there may be other marquees present than just Land Rovers it is up to all persons regardless of what they drive on the trails to represent there club in the best possible light, we can understand good natured bantering - however any attitude or hostilities will result in removal from the event – remember it doesn’t matter what we wheel but the fact that were wheeling - We have the ability to grow our interest group to a wider audience & you might learn something from seeing how other makes accomplish the same trails as you do

Installing the First Four Tubular Bumper

In part 1, I detailed the simple install of the First Four tree sliders - Ok, here's parts 2 and 3 of the install of my First Four stuff.

Ok, I ordered a Tubular winching bumper from First Four (the FF50SS model)

Since I have to do a relocation of the front turn signals (old ones were in the bumper) I've got a few more steps here than a straight forward bumper swap.

I'm going to turn the lower driving light on my D90 into a turn signal..
So I removed pretty much everything on the front end that was plastic trim and wound up looking like picture img_0095

Troubleshooting Electrical Gremlins

Over the years many Land Rover Discovery owners have become frustrated by those mysterious "electrical gremlins" that Land Rovers and other British vehicles are famous for. In some cases owners have become so infuriated with their Land Rovers that they have abandoned them or even converted them to carborator from Fuel Injection.  Other times it can be more mundane and easily repaired problems that are not readily apparent.

Frequently these elusive starting problems can be traced to the Alarm Immobiliser - or Spider - circuit supplied with Discovery I's built after 1996. The technical name, used by LR, is "Engine Immobilisation Control Unit (Spider) (Z271)".

The most obvious symptom is that the engine will not turn over. It cranks, but does not seem to be getting fuel. Getting down on the ground to place your ear close to the gas tank confirms the absence of of the fuel pump sounds usually heard just after the key is turned to the second position.

Press Release: Land Rover

Land Rover will be developing cars with more appropriate technology for the market niche they are aimed at.

That is the message from the company’s Managing Director, Phil Popham who popped into Auckland for lunch recently on his way to Australia from Britain.

“Our cars will be engineered appropriately for the people who buy them,” he said.

“The new small Range Rover won’t be a boulder crawler, but it’s still got to be the best on road and off road vehicle in its class.”

That vehicle, the LRX, has been confirmed for production and will be on sale in about two year’s time.

Tata Motors Raises $750M To Pay JLR Debt

From: The Wall Street Journal

NEW DELHI (Dow Jones)--Tata Motors Ltd. (TTM) said Friday it has raised $750 million by selling global depositary shares and convertible notes for repaying debt taken to acquire premium car brands Jaguar and Land Rover.

The outstanding debt for the acquisition of Jaguar-Land Rover is $700 million, India's biggest auto maker by revenue said in a statement.

A part of the amount raised will also be used for working capital needs and other capital expenditure.

The Mumbai-based maker of the Nano - the world's cheapest car - is raising funds to support the U.K.-based luxury unit whose sales have fallen sharply because of the global economic downturn.

Vehicle dispatches to dealers for Jaguar-Land Rover fell about 52% in the three months ended June 30 to 35,900 units.
